Most vitamin D tablets on the market contain a large amount of unnecessary and controversial additives. Such additives may already be a component of the active ingredient, used as fillers, pressing and anticaking agents such as magnesium stearate, or are added for flavour or colour. By contrast, our custom-made active ingredients as well as our unique production process ensure that our vitamin D tablets are completely free from any controversial or synthetic ingredients. For optimal absorption, we further use a natural MCT coconut oil in which the fat-soluble vitamin D3 can be mixed and made even more bioavailable to the body. We can confidently say that Sunday Natural offers the purest and most effective vitamin D tablets on the market.

Additives that are already contained in the active ingredient are not legally required to be on the product label. As a result, most vitamin D tablets contain "hidden" synthetic vitamin E, ascorbyl palmitate, silicon dioxide, modified starches, sucrose, denatured plant oils and maltodextrin. Because none of the sources of vitamin D on the market that we could find were able to match our demands for purity, we use an exclusive vitamin D active ingredient that is custom made according to our strict specifications. Our vitamin D is completely free from common "hidden" additives.

To ensure that there is an even amount of vitamin D3 mixed throughout the supplement powder and therefore an exact dosage of the tablets, a carrier material is needed. We use 100% nanoparticle-free microcrystalline cellulose while many generic tablets use microcrystalline powders with up to 10% undeclared nanoparticles.

As a fat-soluble vitamin, D3 can only be absorbed with oil. Our tablets therefore contain high-grade MCT coconut oil in powder form for optimal absorption. Natural vitamin E is added to protect the D3 from oxidation and lengthen the product's shelf life.

The only other ingredient we use is premium gum arabic cultivated without pesticides. In contrast to the usual synthetic fillers, we use an ultra pure natural filler that is also rich in dietary fibre. Our gum arabic is sourced from climate neutral, resource-saving, sustainable and fair cultivation.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D3 occurs in nature almost exclusively in animal sources and particularly in fish, dairy products, eggs and meat. Plants, such as lichens and various fungi contain only very small amounts of the much less effective vitamin D2.

Vitamin D plays a very important role. It is one of the few vitamins that is not absorbed directly from food, but rather produced by skin cells from sunlight. It is not a vitamin in the traditional sense of the word, but rather a pro-hormone.

In contrast to many other vitamins, vitamin D is converted into an important hormone which regulates cell functioning and bodily processes. Almost all bodily cells have special receptors for the vitamin D hormone that are dependent on sufficient supply.

Vitamin D is still being intensively researched. New mechanisms of action of this fascinating vitamin are discovered almost every year. So far, the following statements on vitamin D have been released by the EU (EFSA):

Vitamin D

The National Health Service (NHS) recommends a daily intake of 10μg of vitamin D for those 1 year of age and older, inclusive of those pregnant, breastfeeding and at risk of vitamin D deficiency. The NHS recommends a daily intake of 8.5-10μg of vitamin D for babies up to the age of 1 year. However, it is important to note that individual vitamin D needs may vary according to geographic location (sun exposure), dietary habits, genetics and other factors.
