In contrast to chemically synthesised ribose, which often contains L-ribose, which hardly occurs in nature, our ribose powder consists of 100% natural D-ribose. From a purely vegetable source, D-ribose is obtained by fermenting glucose. Microorganisms use the same metabolic pathway for this as we humans do, the pentose phosphate pathway. For this reason, only D-ribose is produced and not L-ribose, which is unusable for the organisms. No animal components such as gelatine, hair or feathers are used in the production process and only renewable raw materials are used.
Our D-Ribose powder has a purity level of >98.0% and is 100% vegan. The natural D-form of ribose is also compatible with fructose intolerance.
D-ribose is the naturally most abundant, granular form of ribose. Via the pentose phosphate pathway, D-glucose (hexose) is converted into D-ribose (pentose) in the body. The enantiomeric L-ribose is of little importance in nature and is often formed during the chemical synthesis of ribose.
D-ribose is counted among the monosaccharides and has a low sweetening power, which corresponds to about 30% of common household sugar.
Take up to 8 heaped spoonfuls (0.6g per spoon) dissolved in 200ml water daily.
